Bill Belichick Wins Over UNC Students with Epic Pizza Night Before Coaching Debut Against Duke

Bill Belichick is already making a positive impression on students at the University of North Carolina before he officially begins his tenure as the Tar Heels’ new head football coach. The former New England Patriots coach is hosting a pizza night for UNC fraternities as they gather to watch the men’s basketball team face off against the second-ranked Duke on Saturday night, as revealed in an email circulated on social media.

In the email from UNC’s director of football operations, Alex Kerr, it was stated, “Coach Belichick wants to get your fraternity pizza for the UNC vs. Duke game tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. With that being said, our plan is to deliver the pizzas on behalf of Coach Belichick to your house.”

This generous gesture comes just a week after Belichick signed a contract to become UNC’s new football coach, solidifying his hiring from last month.

Belichick’s contract is a five-year agreement that guarantees him million per year for the first three seasons, with an additional .5 million available through performance bonuses. Speculation about a potential return to the NFL followed the announcement of his signing.

However, UNC’s general manager, Michael Lombardi, a former NFL executive, quickly quelled those rumors in a post on X, stating, “His focus is on North Carolina football, hiring staff members, and developing the team. The NFL isn’t an option so please stop making it one. Thank you.”

Belichick is set to make his college football debut when UNC hosts TCU on Labor Day at 7:30 p.m. This transition marks a significant milestone in Belichick’s illustrious coaching career, moving from the NFL to the college football landscape.
