One of the most impressive items in God’s handiwork was Aaron’s rod. This rod was used to testify about the power of the Lord in the midst of a rebellion. It was a sign of God’s faithfulness to his chosen minister. Interestingly, the rod of Aaron budded.

Moreover, it was a reminder that the LORD is always at the ready to forgive and restore the nation.
The rod is often portrayed in the form of a shepherd’s staff. However, the Rod of Aaron is unique in that it was a fruit-bearing staff. It budded, blossomed, and eventually produced almonds.
Other biblical examples of a rod include the golden pot of manna. These tablets of the covenant, the Ten Commandments, and the golden rod were the product of God’s power. For instance, the manna contained the divine inscription on stone tablets.
Although it’s not known how the manna originated, the golden pot of manna is an example of the ominous (as in good news) and the most important (as in God’s goodness). As the name suggests, the manna was the most important thing that God gave the Israelites during forty years of wilderness wandering. Similarly, the rod of Aaron is the most important object of the Old Testament.
Another thing to note about the rod of Aaron is that it is a testament to the miracles of the ten commandments. The rod of Aaron was the first to bud and blossom, while the manna was the last to do so.
The rod of Aaron is the oldest of the three miracles of the Exodus. In fact, the first and second were the most impressive. A dry rod can also become a dry stick in the hand of God.
The most important aspect of the rod of Aaron is that it is able to show God’s love and goodness to His chosen ones. Even though the rod did not produce actual fruit, it was a proof that God was at work in the midst of the people’s rebellion. Hence, the rod of Aaron’s name was a sign of the coming restoration of the nation of Israel.
The rod of Aaron, the manna, and the manna’s corresponding manna-moment, all point to the fact that the Lord has chosen us to be His temple, which is a beautiful thing.
