FX’s most-watched television show has added one of TV’s biggest stars for the next season. Variety has just learned that season 2 of The Bear will be adding Better Call Saul‘s Bob Odenkirk as a guest star. The nature of his character is being kept under wraps, and the actor and his reps have not yet commented. The Bear season 2 is set to premiere in June following the show’s impressive debut which made it the channel’s biggest hit.
Odenkirk will be pulling double duty as he is also currently starring in a new show for AMC, titled Lucky Hank. In the dark comedy Lucky Hank, Odenkirk plays an English teacher at a college who is currently struggling during a mid-life crisis. This series immediately followed his departure from the character that has served him well for many years as his hit show, Better Call Saul, would end in 2022. This brought his 13-year run of playing criminal lawyer and amigo del cartel Saul Goodman to a close after starting with Breaking Bad. Odenkirk would collect five nominations in the Best Lead Actor category at the Emmys. This year marks the sixth year Better Call Saul will be competing for awards.
The Bear‘s second season will be seeing Odenkirk join Allen White, who portrays an up-scale elite chef named Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto that returns to run his family’s sandwich shop in Chicago after his brother commits suicide. Berzatto’s plucky staff includes an ensemble of actors featuring Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Edwin Lee Gibson, Corey Hendrix, Matty Matheson, Richard Esteras, and Jose M. Cervantes. The show also features Abby Elliott as Carmy’s sister, Natalie.
The hit show also received many accolades when it took home the awards from the Screen Actors, Writers and Producers Guild Awards. The series star, White, would win a Golden Globe for best actor in a TV series, musical or comedy. The first season of The Bear is currently available to stream on Hulu, and the show recently released a teaser trailer for the next season which will be returning to FX in June.
