According to a new report, California Governor Gavin Newsom will not be fighting Joe Biden for the Democratic nomination for president in 2024.
According to a story published on Saturday by Politico, Governor Newsom conveyed to the White House that he is “all in” for the president’s reelection and is willing to wait his turn.
According to comments made by Newsom to Politico, “I’ve told everyone in the White House, from the chief of staff to the first lady.”
According to the story, Newsom communicated the same information to Biden himself on election night.
The governor expressed his belief that Vice President Joe Biden would be able to “defeat him again” in the event that former President Donald Trump ran for office once more.
Newsom continued by saying that he hopes Biden would run for president and that he will “enthusiastically support him” if he does.
Many people had entertained the idea that Newsom would run against Biden, particularly after the latter launched his campaign across the country, using billboards to attack the incumbent governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis.
According to an article published in The Washington Examiner, “During a victory speech Newsom made after winning reelection, the California governor discussed how the state’s leadership had ‘affirmed clearly with conviction that we are a true freedom state.’ He also compared himself favorably to Republican governors, including the one who was ‘flying migrants to an island.'” The apparent reference was made to Governor Ron DeSantis (R), of Florida, who is widely seen as a formidable candidate for the Republican nomination in the election of 2024.
As of the 26th of November, the only candidate who has formally announced that he is running for the White House in 2024 is Donald Trump, despite the fact that Joe Biden has stated that he plans to run for re-election.
DeSantis has not explicitly stated whether or not he plans to run for governor, but he has also not denied the possibility of doing so.
