Asia is the largest continent with the most number of population because of China and India. It is primarily located in the Eastern and Northern Hemispheres. It has four coastal regions namely East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. As far as geography is concerned, Russia is partly Asia but it is considered as European nation both politically and culturally. Asia has extreme and diverse climate features ranging from arctic and subarctic in Siberia to tropical in southern India and Southeast Asia.

Africa is the second largest continent and also the second most populous behind Asia. It is the only continent to stretch from the northern temperate to southern temperate zones. Africa hosts a large diversity of ethnicities, cultures and languages. It is also considered by most paleoanthropologists to be the oldest inhabited territory on Earth, with the human species originating from the continent.

North America is often described as the northern subcontinent of the Americas. It covers an area of almost 25 million square kilometers which represents around 17% of the Earth’s total land area. The two largest countries include Canada and the United States.

Europe comprises the westernmost peninsulas of the continental landmass of Eurasia. Its culture is the root of Western civilization. Among the major European countries include Italy, France, Germany, and Russian Federation. Later, most of the country quiz will focus on Europe.

South America is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean and on the north and east by the Atlantic Ocean. The geography of western South America is dominated by the Andes mountains. The continent’s cultural and ethnic outlook has its origin with the interaction of indigenous peoples with European conquerors and immigrants and African slaves.

Australia is smallest continent which includes a continental shelf overlain by shallow seas which divide it into several landmasses. It is the second lowest human inhabited continent on Earth.

Finally, Antarctica contains the geographic South Pole and is situated in the Antarctic region of the Southern Hemisphere, almost entirely south of the Antarctic Circle, and is surrounded by the Southern Ocean. The continent remained largely neglected for the rest of the 19th century because of its harsh environment, lack of easily accessible resources, and isolation. It has no no indigenous population so to speak.
