The bible is the most popular book in history and even today. It is the most sacred book to Christians because it is the very foundation of their faith. The bible itself is the word of God that greatly influence the life of those who read it. The English word “Bible” is derived from Greek word “Biblia” which means collection of books. It has two parts namely Old Testament and New Testament. The Old Testament composed of 39 books and 27 books in the New Testament or a total of 66 books. Some versions of the bible has 72 books because of the inclusion of Deuterocanonicals but most bible scholars do not agree with it.
The Old Testament 
consists of many distinct books produced over a period of centuries. The main books are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy which were all written by Moses. All other books like Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and other 12 minor prophets were written at the middle of 6th and 8th centuries B.C. There are also wisdom books written by King David and Solomon namely Ecclesiastes, Proverbs, Psalms and Songs of Solomon.
The New Testament 
is centered on Jesus birth, death, resurrection and His second coming. It has 4 different genres of Christian literature namely Gospels, Acts of the Apostles, Epistles, and the Apocalypse.
In our modern times, the bible are being translated to new languages by Christian organizations such as Wycliffe Bible Translators, New Tribes Mission and many other Bible societies around the world.
