20 Girls Still Missing After Texas Flooding at Christian Summer Camp

First responders are searching for at least 20 girls from Camp Mystic, a private Christian all-girls summer camp in Texas, following severe flooding in the area. The camp is situated near the Guadalupe River, where water levels surged more than 20 feet in less than two hours.

Tragically, journalist Nick Sortor reported early Saturday that two girls from the camp have been found dead. He expressed his heartbreak over the situation and confirmed that multiple bodies of children from Camp Mystic have been recovered from the floods. As families received notifications about the news, the search continued for the missing girls. Sortor urged the community to keep praying for the victims and their families.

A mother named Serena Aldrich shared that her two daughters, aged 9 and 12, were found safe after attending the camp. She expressed relief and gratitude for their safety, noting that her daughters are worried about their friends still missing.

Reports vary on the exact number of girls unaccounted for, with estimates ranging from 20 to as many as 25. Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick stated that authorities are actively working to locate the missing girls. He assured parents that a dedicated team of around 500 people is searching tirelessly for their children.

In a separate incident at another girls’ camp, Heart O’ the Hills, camp director Jane Ragsdale was confirmed dead due to the flooding. The camp mourned her loss, highlighting her significant impact on the lives of many.

In Kerr County, where the flooding has been most severe, over 230 people have been rescued or evacuated. The local sheriff reported that at least 24 fatalities have been confirmed as a result of the disaster. The community is coming together in this difficult time, holding onto hope for those still missing and remembering those who have been lost.
