Jackson Bailey, Ex-Prairie View A&M Football Player, Passes Away at 22

Former Prairie View A&M football player Jackson Bailey has died at the age of 22. The university announced his passing on Tuesday, but the cause of death has not been disclosed.

Bailey joined the Prairie View A&M football team for the 2023 season. Although he did not play in any official games, his impact was felt within the team and the campus community. A statement from the university expressed deep condolences to his family, friends, and teammates, highlighting Bailey’s energy and presence.

He was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and was remembered for his brotherhood, resilience, and purpose. The university noted that he chose to attend Prairie View A&M to be closer to home, and despite his brief time there, he made a lasting impression.

Bailey’s family shared their grief on social media, describing him as a loving son, brother, teammate, and friend. They asked for thoughts and prayers during this difficult time, and mentioned that funeral details would be announced later.

Before joining Prairie View A&M, Bailey had a notable college football career. He started at Arizona, where he was a three-star linebacker recruit. After redshirting in 2021, he transferred to Louisiana-Monroe, where he played nine games in 2022. During that season, he recorded 14 tackles and one quarterback hurry.

In high school, Bailey played for Red Oak, leading his team to the regional finals of the Texas 5A D2 State Playoffs in his junior year. He was recognized for his skills, recording 60 tackles and numerous tackles for loss.
