Fitness influencer Jillian Michaels is speaking out against a new Netflix documentary that she feels misrepresents her time on "The Biggest Loser." The documentary, titled "Fit for TV: The Reality of the Biggest Loser," premiered on August 15 and quickly gained popularity. It takes a behind-the-scenes look at the reality show, which featured contestants trying to lose weight for a cash prize. Michaels was a trainer on the show for several seasons but did not take part in the documentary.
Michaels recently addressed allegations made in the series by former co-host Bob Harper, medical consultant Dr. Robert Huizenga, and former contestants. She shared her views through social media, starting with a post that included email communications about the use of caffeine pills for contestants. Michaels claimed that both Harper and Huizenga were aware of and approved the use of these pills.
In her posts, Michaels emphasized that caffeine was never banned on the show. She also responded to claims that she restricted contestants’ calorie intake. She shared an email from Season 11 winner Olivia Ward, where she instructed Ward to eat 1,600 calories, contradicting another contestant’s claim that they were limited to just 800 calories a day.
Michaels further refuted a claim made in the documentary that she told a contestant at the finale, "You’re going to make me a millionaire." She stated that this comment is false and pointed out that the moment was recorded, meaning it would be on audio if it had happened. She also mentioned that two executive producers of the show confirmed in text messages that the comment was never made.
In an interview with TMZ, Michaels expressed her frustration, saying the documentary contains many inaccuracies. She revealed that she is considering legal action against Netflix, Harper, and Huizenga for the claims made in the series.
