Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has caught Cesar Orlando Castro Serrano, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador wanted for a violent crime in Houston, Texas.
Castro Serrano had been on the run since 2023 after he was accused of a brutal attack on a 22-year-old woman. According to police, he beat her in the head with a tire iron and then raped her, leaving her critically injured in a wooded area behind an apartment complex.
The arrest took place on November 10 in Katy, Texas. After his capture, ICE handed Castro Serrano over to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office so he can face charges. These charges include aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated kidnapping.
ICE officials confirmed that Castro Serrano first entered the U.S. illegally in 2015 during the Obama administration. A year later, a federal immigration judge ordered his deportation. Despite this, he remained in the country until his recent arrest.
Tricia McLaughlin from the Department of Homeland Security spoke strongly against the crime, calling it barbaric and emphasizing that such dangerous individuals should not be in the country. She also highlighted that ICE and the administration are committed to tracking down and arresting illegal immigrants who commit serious crimes.
This case raises concerns about the immigration system and the challenges of keeping communities safe. For now, Castro Serrano will face justice for the violent acts he is accused of in Houston.
