Gene Hackman and His Wifes Causes of Death Uncovered

Gene Hackman, the beloved Hollywood actor, and his wife Betsy Arakawa have both passed away. The couple died of natural causes, according to the New Mexico chief medical examiner, Dr. Heather Jarrell. Hackman, who was 95, had health issues, including hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, with Alzheimer’s disease contributing to his condition. His last recorded event from his pacemaker was on February 18.

Betsy Arakawa, 65, died from Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome. Her death is believed to have occurred on February 11. Officials confirmed that both deaths were natural, with no signs of trauma or foul play. Tests for carbon monoxide poisoning were also negative.

The couple was discovered on February 26 at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, after a welfare check was requested. Law enforcement found them along with their deceased dog. Hackman was found in a mudroom, while Arakawa was lying on the bathroom floor. An opened prescription pill bottle was found nearby, and a space heater was located near her head, suggesting a possible fall.

The couple’s home showed no signs of forced entry, and two other dogs were found alive on the property. While the initial investigation did not indicate foul play, the circumstances surrounding their deaths prompted a thorough examination. Authorities continue to look into the details of this tragic event.
