Dodgers Ink Dave Roberts to Historic $32.4 Million Deal

The Los Angeles Dodgers have reached a significant agreement with manager Dave Roberts, securing him with a new four-year contract extension. This deal, which is set to be officially announced soon, will pay Roberts slightly over $8 million per year, making it the highest average annual salary for a manager in Major League Baseball history.

The contract is valued at $32.4 million over its duration, running through the 2029 season. This extension comes after a busy offseason for the Dodgers, who have focused on retaining key players who played a crucial role in their recent success, including their victory over the New York Yankees in the World Series.

Roberts has been at the helm of the Dodgers since November 23, 2015. During his tenure, he has led the team to two World Series championships and has claimed four National League pennants. Under his leadership, the Dodgers have won their division eight times.

When asked about the new contract, Roberts expressed his excitement and relief. He mentioned that he feels a sense of closure regarding the contract talks and emphasized his desire to remain with the team. "This is the place I want to be," he said, hinting at an upcoming official announcement.

The Dodgers are set to kick off their 2025 season with two games against the Chicago Cubs in Japan, starting on March 18. This season will mark Roberts’ tenth year managing the team, solidifying his position as a central figure in the Dodgers’ ongoing quest for success in Major League Baseball.
