A tragic incident occurred in South Korea when a man fell into a sinkhole and lost his life. The sinkhole, which is about 20 meters deep and wide, appeared suddenly on Monday afternoon at an intersection in the Myeongil-dong area of eastern Seoul.
Emergency officer Kim Chang Seob reported that the sinkhole swallowed a man riding a motorbike. At the same time, a woman driving a van over the area was injured as the ground gave way beneath her. The man, who was in his 30s, was found deceased by rescue teams before noon on Tuesday after an extensive search overnight.
Rescue workers located his motorcycle and mobile phone before discovering his body. Despite wearing a helmet and motorcycle boots, he could not be saved. The woman involved in the incident sustained minor injuries.
