Late Monday night in Great Bend, Kansas, a babysitter had a frightening encounter while putting children to bed. Around 10:30 p.m., one of the kids claimed there was a monster hiding under the bed. To calm the child, the babysitter looked underneath and was shocked to find a man instead.
The man, identified as 27-year-old Martin Villalobos, Jr., had previously lived in the home but was banned from the property due to a protection order. When the babysitter discovered him, a struggle broke out. During the altercation, a child was knocked over, but thankfully, no one was seriously hurt. Villalobos managed to escape the scene before law enforcement arrived.
The Barton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the disturbance call and later reported the incident. They found Villalobos the following morning. When officers approached him, he attempted to flee but was quickly captured. He now faces multiple charges, including aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, and child endangerment, among others. He is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.
This alarming incident left the babysitter shaken, and many online commenters expressed concern for her and the children. One commenter noted that the babysitter might never want to babysit again, and the children might always fear there’s something lurking under their beds. Villalobos has a history of legal troubles, including pending charges for domestic battery and violating a protection order.
