DNC Chair: Democrats Succeed by Embracing Leftists Who Dont Condemn Globalize The Intifada

Ken Martin, the chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), recently addressed the controversial phrase “Globalize the Intifada” during an interview on PBS Newshour. This phrase is often used by pro-Palestinian activists and is associated with calls for resistance against Israel, sometimes interpreted as encouraging violence against Israelis and Jews. Martin’s comments come amid a broader conversation about the Democratic Party’s approach to differing opinions within its ranks.

When asked about New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani’s refusal to condemn the phrase, Martin acknowledged that some Jewish colleagues find this troubling. Yet, he expressed his belief in the importance of including diverse viewpoints within the party. “There’s no candidate in this party I agree 100% of the time with,” he said. He emphasized that the Democratic Party should be a “big-tent party” where all voices are welcomed, even if they lead to disagreements.

Martin highlighted the need for the party to unite various factions, including conservative Democrats, centrist Democrats, and progressive voices. He believes that this inclusion is essential for winning elections. “We win by bringing people into that coalition,” he stated, underscoring that differences of opinion should be celebrated rather than suppressed.

However, Martin also pointed out that simply opposing former President Donald Trump is not enough for the party. He stressed the need to present a clear vision of what the Democratic Party stands for and what it hopes to achieve if given power again.

The phrase “Globalize the Intifada” has sparked significant debate, particularly in light of the violence associated with past intifadas, which have resulted in the deaths of many civilians. During the Second Intifada from 2000 to 2005, over 800 Israelis were killed, most of them civilians. This context adds weight to the concerns raised by some party members about the implications of using such language.

As the Democratic Party continues to navigate these complex issues, Martin’s comments reflect a commitment to inclusivity while also recognizing the challenges that come with it. The party’s ability to balance these differing perspectives may play a crucial role in shaping its future direction and electoral success.
