Elon Musk has officially announced the launch of a new political party called the “America Party.” The announcement came on Saturday evening, following a series of tensions between Musk and President Donald Trump, particularly over a recent piece of legislation known as the One Big, Beautiful Bill.
Musk has been vocal about his frustration with both major political parties, referring to them as a "uniparty." He believes that neither Republicans nor Democrats are addressing the critical issues of spending and debt. In a poll he shared, Musk claimed that people overwhelmingly support the idea of a new political party, with a two-to-one ratio in favor.
In his announcement, Musk stated, “When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy.” He emphasized that the America Party aims to restore freedom to the citizens and tackle issues like reducing national debt, promoting responsible spending, ensuring free speech, and modernizing the military.
Musk’s strategy for the new party is focused and tactical. He suggested that aiming for just a few key Senate and House seats could significantly influence Congress. By concentrating efforts on two or three Senate seats and eight to ten House districts, Musk believes the America Party could sway crucial votes on important legislation.
This move follows a rift between Musk and Trump, which began last month over the same bill. Musk had even suggested that Trump had questionable ties to Jeffrey Epstein, a claim he later regretted. Trump, in turn, has hinted at investigating Musk’s business dealings through a government efficiency department he proposed.

Trump has been enjoying political momentum, having recently signed his major legislation into law and celebrating a diplomatic achievement between Iran and Israel.
