Hegseth: Pentagon Personnel Who Disobey Orders ‘Will Be Shown the Exit’

During a recent interview on "Fox News Sunday," U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth addressed rumors regarding a list of military personnel targeted for dismissal by President Donald Trump. Hegseth firmly stated that no such list exists but emphasized that military leaders must adhere to lawful orders or face consequences.

Hegseth’s comments came in response to questions about speculation surrounding personnel changes within the Pentagon. He clarified, “There’s no list, Shannon. I’ve heard that. I’ve seen that very rumor,” while underscoring the administration’s commitment to military leadership that respects the chain of command. He specifically pointed out that the focus is on ensuring compliance with orders that align with constitutional norms.

The Secretary of Defense criticized the previous administration’s policies, particularly under President Joe Biden, which he argued had a detrimental effect on military morale and effectiveness. He referred to these policies as “ideological COVID mandates” that he believes weakened the armed forces. In contrast, he expressed confidence in President Trump’s leadership, stating that Trump’s directives would be followed and that any officer failing to comply would “find the door.”

Hegseth further articulated the administration’s broader goals for the Pentagon, highlighting a renewed focus on military readiness, warfighting capabilities, and accountability. He described the current leadership as aiming for increased transparency within the Department of Defense, a move he believes will restore trust and efficiency in military operations.

The Secretary concluded his remarks by reassuring the public about the direction of military policy under Trump, emphasizing a commitment to uphold the Constitution and prioritize the effectiveness of the armed forces.
