The risk of a terrorist attack in the United States has risen, according to Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Todd Lyons. He pointed to a growing number of illegal immigrants driving heavy trucks on American highways as a major concern. Lyons specifically blamed the Biden administration’s open border policy, which he claims has allowed millions of unvetted migrants to enter the country.
Recently, ICE arrested 146 illegal immigrant truck drivers in Indiana. Many of these individuals held commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) issued by sanctuary states like Illinois, California, and New York. Lyons warned that the contents of these trucks are unknown, raising fears that they could potentially be carrying dangerous materials, including toxic chemicals or explosives.
Lyons emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating, “We don’t know what they’re carrying across state lines in an 18-wheeler. Terrorists will stop at nothing to harm the United States.” His comments come in the wake of a troubling trend involving illegal immigrant truck drivers.
One high-profile incident involved Harjinder Singh, an Indian national accused of causing a fatal crash in Florida while driving an 18-wheeler. In August, Singh allegedly made an illegal U-turn, resulting in the deaths of three people. This incident has sparked further scrutiny into how illegal immigrants obtain CDLs.
Another tragic case occurred last year in Ontario, California. A collision claimed the lives of Clarence Nelson, a basketball coach, and his wife, Lisa, as well as another victim. The crash left six-year-old Dalilah Coleman in a coma for weeks. When she finally woke up, she faced severe challenges, unable to walk, talk, or eat normally. Dalilah’s father, Marcus Coleman, criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom, urging him to take responsibility for the safety of residents.
In response to these incidents, the Trump administration had previously implemented strict measures to prevent non-English speakers and illegal immigrants from obtaining commercial driver’s licenses. As the debate continues, the safety of America’s roads remains a pressing issue amid concerns about border policies and illegal immigration.
