Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of over 30 individuals, including many women and children, according to local health officials. The strikes occurred overnight on Sunday, targeting a tent and a house in Khan Younis. Reports from Nasser Hospital indicate that among the deceased were five men, five women, and five children.
On the same day, another airstrike hit a tent outside Nasser Hospital, which was being used by journalists. This attack led to two more deaths and left six others injured, including some journalists. Footage from the scene shows a journalist engulfed in flames, and he is currently in critical condition.
In addition to the strikes in Khan Younis, other areas in Gaza also experienced violence. Shelling in the Jabaliya refugee camp reportedly killed at least four people. In Gaza City, an airstrike killed six people, including three children, as they waited outside a bakery.
The recent strikes come after Israel resumed its military operations against Hamas, following the end of a ceasefire. The Israeli military has been conducting air and ground offensives aimed at pressuring Hamas to agree to a new truce and secure the release of hostages. For over a month, Israel has also restricted the import of food, fuel, and humanitarian aid into Gaza, exacerbating the already dire situation for civilians. The United Nations has warned that stocks of essential supplies are running low.
Tensions have escalated, with rockets fired from Gaza into Israel, prompting further military responses. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is currently in the United States to discuss the ongoing conflict with President Donald Trump, highlighting the international dimensions of the situation.
Since the conflict began on October 7, 2023, following a surprise attack by Hamas, the violence has resulted in significant casualties on both sides. Israeli sources report that around 20,000 militants have been killed, while Gaza’s health ministry claims that more than 50,000 Palestinians have died, although it does not distinguish between civilians and combatants.
As the situation continues to unfold, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepens, raising urgent calls for international intervention and support for those affected by the violence.
