Johnny Depp Opens Up About Parenting His Children Lily-Rose and Jack with Ex-Partner Vanessa Paradis

Johnny Depp recently opened up about his life as a father in an interview with The Sunday Times. The 62-year-old actor reflected on his experiences raising his two children, Lily-Rose, 26, and Jack, 22, with his ex-partner Vanessa Paradis in France. Depp expressed pride in being a family man and shared fond memories of his kids growing up in the south of France.

In the interview, Depp mentioned a portrait of Lily-Rose that he started when she was ten years old, noting how quickly time has passed. He reminisced about the joy of being "Papa" to his children and how that role has shifted as they grew older. "I was Papa," he said. "Then, suddenly, Papa was out the window. I was Dad." He humorously added that he hopes to reclaim the title of "Papa" as he ages.

Depp and Paradis welcomed Lily-Rose in 1999 and Jack in 2002. While Lily-Rose has pursued a career in acting, known for her roles in "The Idol" and "Nosferatu," Jack has chosen a quieter life as a bartender in Paris. The family lived near St. Tropez before moving to Los Angeles.

In the interview, Depp also touched on his relationship with his ex-wife Amber Heard. He discussed the challenges of their highly publicized legal battles and the emotional toll it took on him. Depp explained that he felt compelled to speak out during the trial to protect his children from the fallout of the accusations against him. He emphasized the importance of representing the truth, stating, "If I don’t try to represent the truth it will be like I’ve actually committed the acts I am accused of."

Depp shared that he now spends less time in the U.S., dividing his life between the UK and the Bahamas. He described the home he shared with Paradis in France as the only place that ever truly felt like home. As he reflects on his past, Depp seems to cherish the memories of his children’s childhood and the bond they shared during those formative years.
