Kate Hudson Suggests She May Not Marry Fiancé Danny Fujikawa: "I Value My Freedom"

Kate Hudson recently shared her thoughts on marriage during an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show.” The actress, who has been engaged to Danny Fujikawa for over three years, expressed that she is in no hurry to walk down the aisle. Hudson explained that the idea of a “contractual” relationship is something that makes her hesitant.

“I like my freedom,” she said. Hudson also mentioned that she enjoys the concept of being engaged indefinitely, drawing inspiration from her parents, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, who have been together since 1983 without ever marrying. “They never signed the contract. They’ve been engaged since I was 7,” she noted, highlighting her belief that commitment doesn’t necessarily require marriage.

The 45-year-old actress reflected on wedding planning, admitting that she doesn’t feel excited about it. Instead, she finds the thought of planning a wedding overwhelming and costly. “I just don’t have the same kind of like, ‘Oh my God, I’m going to get married … and I can’t wait for the party!’ It’s the opposite,” she said. However, Hudson is open to the idea of eloping, though she joked that she still wants to experience certain wedding traditions.

Hudson and Fujikawa began dating in 2016 after being friends for 15 years. They welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Rani Rose, in 2018. Hudson is also a mother to two sons from previous relationships. The couple got engaged in September 2021, and Hudson revealed her engagement on Instagram before showcasing her ring at the Met Gala that same year.

As she navigates her relationship with Fujikawa, Hudson continues to embrace her unique perspective on love and commitment, prioritizing her sense of freedom while cherishing their bond.
