Police in Kenya are working hard to solve the murder of Campbell Scott, a Scottish businessman whose body was found in a sack of pineapples. Scott, who was from Dunfermline in Fife, was last seen on February 16 while attending a conference at the JW Marriot Hotel in Nairobi.
Days later, his body was discovered in a forest approximately 66 miles southeast of Nairobi. Authorities are treating his death as a murder, and two people have already been arrested as part of the investigation. A spokesperson for the National Police Service described the crime as "heinous" and expressed confidence that justice will be served.
The case is being handled by the homicide unit of Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations. Officials are determined to uncover the truth behind this tragic event. Thomas Maitha, a local administrator, noted that Scott’s hands were tied behind his back and that it appeared he had been tortured. The condition of the body raised serious concerns and prompted local authorities to escalate the investigation.
Scott was a senior director at Fico, a credit scoring firm, and had been with the company since 2014. His colleagues expressed their devastation over his passing, highlighting his leadership and kindness. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is also involved, providing support to Scott’s family and communicating with local authorities.
As the investigation continues, the community and Scott’s loved ones await answers and hope for justice.
