Masked protesters gathered outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Seattle on June 14, 2025. They aimed to block ICE agents from transporting detained immigrants out of the facility. The protesters, some wearing face masks and keffiyehs, set up a perimeter using “No Parking” signs, creating a blockade around the building.
Katie Daviscourt, a journalist from The Post Millennial, shared live updates on social media, showing videos of the tense situation. She reported that several individuals were detained inside, and the protesters were determined to prevent ICE from moving them.
As tensions rose, federal and local police intervened, deploying tear gas and crowd control measures against the protesters. Daviscourt later tweeted that she had been affected by the tear gas but was okay. Amid the chaos, ICE took the opportunity to move vehicles carrying the detained individuals out of the building, much to the protesters’ frustration.
In response to the police dismantling their blockades, the protesters quickly rebuilt them. Daviscourt noted that around 60 individuals remained at the scene, still trying to block access to the ICE office.
The situation escalated further when protesters began attacking police vehicles once the blockades were removed. Brandi Kruse, another journalist, reported an incident where a military veteran was assaulted while trying to help the protesters.
Seattle has seen a surge of protests recently, reminiscent of the unrest in Los Angeles over ICE raids and detentions. The events at the ICE field office reflect ongoing tensions surrounding immigration enforcement and the actions of groups opposing such measures. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how authorities will respond and what impact these protests will have on local communities.
