Mehcad Brooks is taking on a new role in the “Sex and the City” universe as he joins the cast of the spinoff series “And Just Like That” for its third season. The show premieres on May 29, 2025, on HBO Max. Brooks, who has been starring in “Law & Order” since 2022, is excited about this new opportunity.
At 44 years old, Brooks expressed that this role allows him to showcase a different side of his personality. In a recent interview, he shared that he appreciates the chance to bring humor to his character, something he feels is absent from his “Law & Order” role.
In “And Just Like That,” Brooks plays Marion Odin, an award-winning film and documentary editor. He describes his character as funny, goofy, and earnest, someone who is always ready to help others and make them laugh. He joked that this aligns closely with his own personality.
Brooks is particularly thrilled to work alongside Nicole Ari Parker, whom he has known for two decades. He noted that their previous collaborations never allowed them to share the same screen in this way. He admires her talent, likening her presence to a blend of Julia Roberts and Audrey Hepburn.
The series continues the story of Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda, and Charlotte as they adjust to life in their 50s, moving on from the glamorous lives they led in their 30s. The show has also introduced new characters, including Lisa Todd Wexley, played by Parker, and other friends who add fresh dynamics to the group.
While the original cast member Samantha, portrayed by Kim Cattrall, has been absent from the series due to behind-the-scenes tension, she made a brief appearance in the second season.
Brooks is open about the possibility of intimate scenes in the show, acknowledging that such moments are a part of telling fully developed stories. He feels comfortable with these scenes and believes they contribute to portraying realistic lives.
As “And Just Like That” gears up for its new season, fans can look forward to Brooks’s humor and charm, adding a new layer to the beloved franchise.
