National Firefighters Union Praises Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ in Latest White House Video

President Trump’s proposed “big beautiful bill” is gaining support from firefighters across the nation, who believe it could provide substantial financial benefits for their community. The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), which represents around 350,000 firefighters, has praised the bill for its potential to deliver significant tax cuts, including the elimination of taxes on overtime pay.

In a recent video released by The White House, IAFF General President Edward Kelly emphasized the bill’s importance for working families. He noted that it would especially benefit seniors with tax breaks on Social Security and help firefighters who often work long hours and earn overtime. “This bill is going to impact the lives of working families all throughout the United States,” Kelly stated.

The bill also includes provisions that could ease financial burdens for firefighters, such as a proposed tax credit of up to $8,000 for childcare and in-home services. Chris Bartley, the IAFF’s political program coordinator, highlighted that stopping the taxation of overtime would allow firefighters to keep more of the money they earn.

The urgency to pass this legislation is palpable, with Senate Republicans planning a vote over the weekend. They are aiming for an “aspirational” vote to kick off at noon on Saturday. This bill is seen as a fulfillment of Trump’s campaign promises, particularly regarding tax cuts.

White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers expressed gratitude for firefighters, stating, “Our nation’s brave firefighters put their lives on the line to protect our families and communities.” The Uniformed Firefighters Association, representing New York City firefighters, is also backing the bill, viewing it as a necessary support for those who risk their lives daily.

As discussions continue in the Senate, firefighters nationwide are hopeful that this legislation will soon become a reality, providing the financial relief they need.
