Two Scottish nationals were tragically shot dead outside an Irish pub in Fuengirola, located in the Costa del Sol region of Spain. The incident occurred on Saturday night, when a hooded gunman opened fire, striking a man in the chest and a woman in both the chest and abdomen. Both victims died at the scene outside Monaghans bar.
Witnesses reported that the shooter arrived in a car with accomplices before exiting the vehicle to carry out the attack. More than a dozen people were present and witnessed the violence unfold. Local emergency services received the call for help around 11:28 PM local time.
In addition to the two fatalities, a third person sustained injuries during the shooting. Local authorities confirmed that the victims were Scottish nationals, but details about their identities have not yet been released.
Francisco Javier Salas, a politician from Malaga, stated that the gunman fled the scene and is currently being pursued by law enforcement. As of now, there have been no arrests related to the shooting.
This incident is part of a troubling trend, as the Costa del Sol has seen several shootings this year. The UK Foreign Office has indicated that they have not yet been contacted for consular assistance regarding this case.
As the investigation continues, the community is left in shock, grappling with the violence that has marred what is typically a popular tourist destination.
