Senator Kevin Cramer, a Republican from North Dakota, is currently recovering after suffering a brain bleed caused by a fall on ice while experiencing a seizure. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when Cramer was attempting to retrieve a piece of conduit that had fallen off his dock. As he walked down a hill to the dock, he slipped on the ice and fell, hitting the back of his head.
In a social media post, Cramer detailed the events leading up to his injury, explaining that he sustained a severe concussion, a seizure, and a slight brain bleed, as confirmed by a CT scan. He shared a photo showing the injury to his head, which required staples to close the laceration after it would not stop bleeding. Following the injury, he was admitted to the hospital for observation.
Cramer reported that he had a restful night and underwent a second CT scan, which indicated that his condition was stable. He described his current state as better, though he is still dealing with significant headaches. He humorously noted that his wife, Kris, often sends tips on brain care to their family and acknowledged that he should pay more attention to her advice.
In a follow-up update, Cramer confirmed he is recovering at home, taking anti-seizure medication and resting alongside his wife. He expressed gratitude for the support he has received, stating, “Thank you to all of the folks praying for a full recovery. God is good!”
Former President Donald Trump also reached out with well wishes for Cramer, highlighting the seriousness of the incident and praising his wife for her quick response during the emergency. Trump conveyed his hopes for Cramer’s swift recovery, noting the close call he experienced.
As Cramer continues to heal, his accident serves as a reminder of the risks associated with falls, particularly in icy conditions, and the importance of timely medical care following head injuries.
