Russia Launches Large-Scale Drone and Missile Assault on Ukrainian City

Russia has launched a significant attack on Ukraine, resulting in one death and at least 24 injuries, including three children. The assault occurred in the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia, where local authorities reported extensive damage to infrastructure and residential buildings.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the attack impacted 14 regions, utilizing over 500 drones and 45 missiles. The air force confirmed five missile strikes and 24 drone hits across seven locations, with debris affecting 21 sites. In Zaporizhzhia, the attack left 25,000 residents without power, as local energy facilities reported damage to their equipment.

This latest escalation comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict, which have not produced significant results. Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump met separately with leaders from both Russia and Ukraine, but discussions have not led to a clear path forward. Zelensky has indicated a self-imposed deadline for new measures against Russia, urging sanctions on Russian banking and energy sectors if President Vladimir Putin does not agree to a meeting.

Zelensky criticized Moscow for using the time meant for potential discussions to plan further attacks. As the situation develops, Ukraine continues to repair damage to its infrastructure, with state-owned railway services reporting that repairs in the Kyiv region have been completed.

The conflict remains tense, and both sides are bracing for what may come next as the international community watches closely.
