A second woman has come forward with serious allegations against former NFL star Shannon Sharpe, claiming he raped her more than a decade ago. Michele Bundy Evans, who says she dated Sharpe for nearly ten years, filed a lawsuit against him in late 2023 for defamation, libel, and slander. This legal action follows her earlier claims of sexual assault against him.
In court documents, Evans alleges that Sharpe assaulted her in 2010 after an argument about his supposed infidelity. She describes a harrowing incident where she claims he forced her to her knees and engaged in non-consensual acts. According to her, Sharpe threatened to damage her reputation if she spoke out about the incident, saying he would "use everyone I know to destroy you."
Evans previously sought a restraining order against Sharpe after the alleged assault but later dropped it out of fear for her safety and that of her child. She recounted a frightening experience where someone approached her apartment and threatened her, prompting her to withdraw the order.
In response to Evans’ allegations, a spokesperson for Sharpe dismissed her claims as "ridiculous and completely without merit," asserting that he has not had any contact with her for many years. Sharpe is also facing a separate $50 million lawsuit from another woman, identified as Jane Doe, who claims he sexually assaulted her multiple times during their two-year relationship.
Sharpe has vehemently denied all accusations against him, labeling the lawsuit from Doe as a "shakedown" and expressing his intention to countersue for defamation. He has announced that he will temporarily step back from his duties at ESPN while addressing these legal challenges, with plans to return for the NFL preseason in August.
The allegations against Sharpe have sparked significant media attention, bringing to light the complexities surrounding accusations of sexual misconduct and the legal ramifications that follow.
