Tommy Robinson Invited to Israel: A Bold Advocate in the Fight Against Radical Islam

Israel’s Diaspora Affairs Minister, Amichai Chikli, has invited British activist Tommy Robinson to visit Israel, praising him as a “courageous leader” in the fight against radical Islam. Robinson, known for his strong views on immigration and jihadist extremism, plans to arrive in Israel in mid-October, right after his court appearance in the UK on October 13.

In a post on X, Chikli expressed solidarity with the UK following the tragic Manchester terrorist attack, stating that Israel stands firmly with its allies. He highlighted Robinson’s commitment to fighting radical Islam and his friendship with Israel and the Jewish people.

This invitation symbolizes a growing bond between some Israeli leaders and Western nationalists who support Israel’s right to defend itself, especially in light of the recent atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7.

Robinson accepted the invitation, describing his trip as a personal mission. He emphasized that his motivation stems from shared values and a common struggle against Islamic jihad. He sees the fight in the UK and Israel as interconnected. “Their fight is our fight. I’m a proud British patriot and a Zionist,” he stated.

During his visit, Robinson plans to explore significant sites in Israel, including Jerusalem and the Nova Festival location, where Hamas carried out its attacks. He also aims to visit Yad Vashem, the Jabotinsky Institute, and the Knesset, where he will meet with Israeli lawmakers, including Chikli. Robinson expressed his desire to deepen his understanding of Zionism and Jewish history, particularly noting the influence of Jabotinsky on Israeli leadership.

Despite his support for Israel, Robinson has faced criticism, particularly from some liberal Jewish groups. He responded to these criticisms by saying that “elitist Jews” do not represent ordinary Jews, aligning himself instead with the conservative Jewish leaders who invited him.

His comments have drawn accusations of antisemitism, which Robinson has firmly rejected. He argued that criticizing “elitist Jews” is not antisemitic, but rather a necessary critique of those who misrepresent the views of the broader Jewish community.

Supporters of Robinson, including prominent Jewish figures, have defended his invitation. Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana welcomed Robinson and reiterated the global nature of the struggle against radicalism. Avi Yemini from Rebel News also came to Robinson’s defense, stating that he has consistently stood up for Jewish interests.

Robinson recently led a rally in London, advocating for British culture and free speech, which drew nearly 150,000 attendees. His upcoming visit to Israel may signify more than just a personal journey; it could mark a pivotal moment in strengthening ties between nationalist conservatives and supporters of Israel amid rising global antisemitism.
