President Donald Trump has raised serious concerns about what he calls a “triple sabotage” during his recent speech at the United Nations. The incidents he described occurred on the day of his address, and Trump is calling for an investigation into these events.
On Wednesday, Trump shared his grievances on Truth Social, stating that he would send his complaints to UN Secretary-General António Guterres. He emphasized the need to preserve security footage, suggesting that the Secret Service is involved in the matter.
Trump described the situation as “A REAL DISGRACE” and “very sinister.” He detailed three specific incidents that he believes were deliberate attempts to undermine his speech.
The first incident involved an escalator malfunction. As Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were making their way to the main auditorium, the escalator they were on suddenly stopped. Trump remarked on how dangerous it could have been if they had fallen, crediting their grip on the handrail for preventing a potential disaster. He pointed to a report from The Times of London that indicated UN staff had joked about shutting off escalators and elevators during his visit.
The second incident occurred when Trump was about to deliver his speech. He reported that the teleprompter failed to display his remarks for the first 15 minutes. Despite this setback, he noted that his speech received positive feedback, suggesting that the audience appreciated his ability to continue without the aid of the teleprompter.
Lastly, during his address, the sound system malfunctioned, leaving many diplomats unable to hear him unless they used earpieces to listen to interpreters. Trump recounted that Melania, who sat in the front row, told him she couldn’t hear anything he said.
In his view, these events were not coincidental but rather a coordinated effort to sabotage his appearance at the UN. He believes those responsible should face arrest for their actions.
