An Uber Eats driver was fired after being caught on camera allegedly urinating in an elevator of a Sydney apartment building. The incident occurred on March 10 in Artarmon, located in Sydney’s North Shore, while the driver was delivering food from Betty’s Burgers.
CCTV footage showed the man entering the lift with a takeout bag. He then moved to a corner of the elevator, where he appeared to adjust his pants. After stepping out, a wet patch was visible on the carpet, confirming the disturbing act.
The incident was reported by 2GB radio host Ben Fordham, who described the footage as unmistakable. He noted that the driver held the food in one hand while allegedly relieving himself with the other. This shocking behavior has left residents of the building outraged. Geoffrey Grasso, the building’s secretary, expressed his disgust and questioned the driver’s judgment. He pointed out that if the driver had asked to use a restroom, residents would likely have allowed it.
Following the incident, Uber Eats confirmed that they were investigating and had deactivated the driver’s account, meaning he could no longer work for the platform. The company stated that such behavior is unacceptable and goes against their community guidelines.
New South Wales Police have also launched an investigation and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Residents are concerned not only about the incident itself but also about the implications for food safety and hygiene. Grasso mentioned that the elevator has been cleaned, but the lingering smell and damage will likely require costly repairs, potentially amounting to over $2,000.
