Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, has raised serious concerns about the United States’ approach to Russia. He believes that the U.S. is undermining the international rules-based order by attempting to negotiate with Moscow. Speaking at a conference at the Chatham House think tank, Zaluzhnyi warned that this could lead to a collapse of NATO and make Europe vulnerable to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ambitions.
Zaluzhnyi emphasized that not labeling Russia’s actions as aggression poses a significant threat to global stability, particularly for Europe. He expressed that the U.S. is not just observing the situation but is actively contributing to the deterioration of the established order. He stated, "We see that it is not just the axis of evil and Russia trying to revise the world order, but the US is finally destroying this order."
His comments come amid rising tensions between Ukraine and the U.S. Following a recent fallout between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and U.S. President Donald Trump, Zaluzhnyi noted that the White House’s actions have raised doubts about the unity of Western nations. He warned that if this trend continues, NATO could face serious challenges.
In addition to his concerns about U.S.-Russia relations, Zaluzhnyi criticized the U.S. for pausing military aid to Ukraine and halting intelligence sharing. He described these moves as a "huge challenge for the entire world" and highlighted that recent talks between the U.S. and Russia, which he referred to as being "headed by a war criminal," indicate a troubling shift in U.S. policy.
Zaluzhnyi’s remarks reflect a growing anxiety in Ukraine about the potential for increased Russian aggression in Europe. As tensions continue to simmer, the ambassador’s warning serves as a stark reminder of the fragile state of international relations and the critical importance of a united front against threats to global security.
