Watchdog Urges Rubio to Designate Radical Palestinian Group as Terrorist Organization

A pro-Palestinian group that praised the killing of two Israeli Embassy staff members is facing scrutiny for its actions. The Zachor Legal Institute has urged Secretary of State Marco Rubio to classify the organization, known as Unity of Fields, as a foreign terrorist group. This request comes after the group celebrated the murders of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim outside the Israeli Embassy in May, calling the act “love for the Palestinian people.”

Unity of Fields, formerly called Palestine Action US, has been linked to calls for violence and vandalism. The group has encouraged its supporters to commit acts against police and other targets, raising alarms about its potential threat to public safety. The complaint sent to Rubio argues that Unity of Fields meets the criteria for being labeled a terrorist organization due to its promotion of violence and its threats to U.S. security.

The group’s rhetoric intensified following the murders, with Unity of Fields referring to the suspected killer, Elias Rodriguez, as a figure of “solidarity” for the Palestinian cause. Their social media posts included calls to escalate violence and “bring the war home,” suggesting a troubling stance on the use of violence to further their agenda.

The Zachor Legal Institute’s complaint also highlights an “underground manual” that encourages acts of vandalism and destruction. This manual, which was shared at a local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, instructs individuals on how to plan and execute acts of property damage while avoiding detection.

Unity of Fields has drawn comparisons to Palestine Action, a group in the UK that has already been designated as a terrorist organization. Rubio, during his time in the Senate, had previously called for an investigation into Unity of Fields for its alleged domestic terrorism activities.

Marc Greendorfer from the Zachor Legal Institute emphasized the need for action against Unity of Fields. He stated that recognizing the group as a terrorist organization would allow the U.S. government to take necessary steps to dismantle it and prevent further violence.

As the situation unfolds, the spotlight remains on Unity of Fields and its impact on public safety and political discourse in the U.S. The call for its classification as a terrorist organization reflects growing concerns over the potential for political violence linked to radical groups.
