President Donald Trump’s team is celebrating the first 100 days of his second term in office, highlighting what they see as significant achievements. As they look ahead to the next phase, officials are eager to build on the momentum established in these initial months.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt expressed optimism about the future, stating, “More American greatness” is on the way. She pointed out that Trump has already fulfilled many of his campaign promises, particularly in securing the border and addressing inflation. The administration plans to focus on trade deals, peace agreements, and tax cuts in the upcoming days.
A key part of this agenda will be funding. The Office of Management and Budget recently released a discretionary budget request aimed at reducing non-defense spending while increasing defense and homeland security funding. This budget cuts non-defense discretionary spending by 23% but boosts defense spending by 13% and increases funding for the Department of Homeland Security by nearly 65%.
“To achieve our goals, we need more resources and manpower,” a Homeland Security official remarked, indicating that the administration is ready to take further action.
Congress will play a crucial role in moving forward with Trump’s proposed “Big Beautiful Bill.” Senate Majority Leader John Thune mentioned that the Senate is actively working to get this bill to the president’s desk. Meanwhile, Florida Congressman Byron Donalds expressed confidence that the bill could be signed soon, highlighting plans for tax policy changes and deregulation.
The administration has also focused heavily on border security. Since Trump took office in January, there have been 139,000 deportations, with a significant number of arrests made by ICE. Officials are working to enhance border enforcement, including training for agents to impose stricter penalties on illegal crossings and related crimes.
Ron Vitiello, a senior advisor at U.S. Customs and Border Protection, stated that the administration plans to increase consequences for those who cross the border illegally. He believes that as word spreads about these tougher penalties, fewer people will attempt to cross.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who now also serves as National Security Advisor, praised the administration’s early successes. He attributed these achievements to strong leadership and a focus on putting American interests first in foreign policy.
As Trump’s team gears up for the next 100 days, they are determined to continue their work on issues that matter to their supporters and aim to bring about further changes in the country.
